The Shelby Shine Pattern

This is a very special story. I have tears in my eyes because I have thought about these three people nonstop for a few weeks now. Here it goes…

My Auntie’s birthday was yesterday! I got to share these photos with her on her special day. I have finished her hat, cowl, and boot cuff set. (She’s in the middle of kicking cancer’s ASS!) This is double special. The set was created for my awesome Aunt and the pattern is named after my dear friend Charmian’s beautiful daughter that she lost at the age of 13...my Bailey’s age. After some late-night conversations on one of my posts, I was honored enough that Charmian told me about her angel. What I didn’t know when I chose this yarn and stitch pattern was that her Shelby loved hats, purple, and horses. These are called horseshoe cables. This purple is my Auntie’s favorite. I have named this fabulous design The Shelby Shine...because Shelby is still a shining light, of course, and my Auntie is going to SHINE in this set. This has been weeks of thinking of both my Auntie and sweet Shelby (Charmian too!) with every single stitch and horseshoe cable. Let me share with you The Shelby Shine!!! This GORGEOUS horseshoe cable set was designed for my Auntie Pat, who is in the middle of kicking cancer’s ass. Not only that, it is named after my dear friend, Charmian’s, beautiful daughter who is now her guardian angel. Here’s to my Auntie, and her battle, my Charmian and her beautiful angel, Shelby. My Auntie loves purple and asked for a hat and matching cowl, and Shelby loved hats and horses. I took it to one more level and added boot cuffs! So, this pattern includes: a hat, cowl, and boot cuffs, all within the pdf. Because she deserves it all! The sizing is “one size” (AKA: her size) but instructions and math are provided to assist you in going up or down sizes, if you wish. The gauge, for all 3 pieces, is 5 stitches per inch. Materials needed: up to 3 skeins of worsted weight yarn (up to 600 yards, depending on size variations. The sample set was approximately 550 yards), size US6 & US7 (US8 for a looser/slouchier fit) 16-inch circular needles, a cable needle, size US7(US8 for a looser/slouchier fit) DPN’s, and a darning needle.

The kit includes:
🧶 1 skein of beautifully hand-dyed Yarnitoli 100% superwash merino wool in worsted weight (218 yards/100g)

🧶 One gorgeous hat, cowl, and/or bootcuff set!

You will need:

● 3 skeins of Yarnitoli DK (231 yds/100g).

● Size US6 & US7(US8 for a looser/slouchier fit) 16-inch(or 20/24-inch for CO amounts bigger than 130) circular needles

● Size US7 DPN’s (US8 for a looser/slouchier fit)

● Cable needle, darning needle
